John Mousinho said Portsmouth midfielder Marlon Pack will be checked over on Monday after having to be replaced against Luton Town on Saturday (18 August).

The 33-year-old was withdrawn in the second half at Fratton Park during the goalless draw after taking a blow to the head.

Pompey boss Mousinho provided an update on the midfielder's status, though said further analysis is needed.

In quotes reported by the club's official website (17 August): "He took a bit of a knock – and it takes a lot for him to be subbed off.

"We’ll see how he is on Monday.”

Fingers crossed on Portsmouth ace Marlon Pack

The local boy turned captain is a hugely popular figure at Fratton Park, not least for helping the club end a 12-year exile from the second tier of the English Football League.

Pack - who signed a new two-year contract during pre-season - is a full-blooded player and, as Mousinho alluded to, wouldn't leave the park unless it was absolutely necessary and clearly he felt he couldn't continue.

Hopefully the experienced midfielder can make a speedy recovery because Portsmouth earned another very valuable point against the Hatters, who were playing in the Premier League last season of course.

It was particularly frustrating that Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski was sent off and Pompey were unable to make the most of the numerical advantage.

But there was enough encouragement for Pompey fans, let's just hope Pack is available to play his part.

The next assignment is a trip to Middlesbrough on Saturday and Pompey will aim to get off the mark after two draws so far.
