John Mousinho has confirmed Callum Lang is set to be out of action for Portsmouth for "two to three weeks" after his injury at Burnley.

BBC Radio Solent's Andy Moon posted on X [25 September] to reinforce the news after speaking to Mousinho ahead of Sheffield United's visit to Fratton Park on Saturday.

The forward opened the scoring in Pompey's late defeat at Turf Moor but was later withdrawn through an issue which will rule him out for a short period.

The Blues have been plagued by injuries in the early part of the campaign, and Mousinho revealed the information on Lang to Moon: "Pompey head coach John Mousinho says he hopes Callum Lang won’t be out for anymore than 2-3 weeks."

Portsmouth suffering injury woes

Portsmouth are fortunate they have the largest squad in the Championship this season, because they need it.

Conor Shaughnessy keeps getting little setbacks, Josh Murphy only made his debut against West Brom, and Jacob Farrell is yet to make his bow.

Colby Bishop is out for an indefinite period, Kusini Yengi has suffered several issues, and Ibane Bowat - yet to make an appearance after his move from Fulham - is out for six months. When it rains, it pours.

Luckily for Mousinho, he has seen a few players return from long-term injuries such as Regan Poole and Tom McIntyre, while Murphy should soon hit his stride.

A difficult start to the season continues on paper this weekend as Pompey face their third fixture against a relegated side from the Premier League on Saturday, desperate for their elusive first win.
