Portsmouth are out in front in the Championship this season for the percentage of their stadium capacity filled, it has been revealed.

Courtesy of LowerTiers on X [18 December], Pompey fans are illustrated to have covered a league-high 97.9 percent of Fratton Park in home fixtures throughout 2024-25, despite some tricky spells of form.

The traditional home of the Blues saw its capacity marginally increased as part of the extensive summer refurbishment of the club's infrastructure, following promotion back to the second tier.

Portsmouth supporters leading Championship attendance stat

While Fratton Park in all its glory is dwarfed in capacity by rival stadia such as the Stadium of Light, Elland Road and Hillsborough, to only leave an average of just over 2 percent empty across half a season is an impressive achievement.

It not only demonstrates the ardent support of the club's fanbase and bolsters the island city identity - which pulsates via football - but also maximises investing vital supporter funds back into the Blues.

The closest Championship club behind Pompey for capacity fulfilled is Norwich City on 96.7 percent; then come Luton Town on 96.2 percent, followed by Leeds United with 95.5 percent.

At the other end of the rankings, Blackburn Rovers are the only Championship club not to fill even half of their ground [49 percent] - the advantage of Ewood Park tends to be the generous away allocations which can regularly hit 7,000 - though Pompey fans were denied that opportunity after Storm Darragh saw the fixture on 23 November postponed.

Cardiff City [55.6 percent] and Sheffield Wednesday [64 percent] are next in line as Pompey can at least boast something in the second tier this season.
