Portsmouth transfer news as Harry Leonard update shared by BBC reporter

Portsmouth are not interested in signing Blackburn Rovers striker Harry Leonard, according to Andrew Moon.

Alan Nixon reported for The Sun on Sunday (2 February) that Pompey and fellow Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle are keen on landing Leonard.

However, BBC reporter Moon has shot down those rumours ahead of the 11pm deadline for EFL clubs on Monday (3 February).

He posted via his personal X account [2 February]: “Portsmouth are not trying to sign Harry Leonard.”

Portsmouth need more signings before transfer window closes

John Mousinho has already added to his squad since the winter window opened for business, but it is fair to say he could do with as much help as possible right now.

Leonard would have been an exciting signing of sorts, albeit he is not exactly a household name, but this does not look like being a goer.

With a day-and-a-half of the window still to go, there is surely plenty of work going on behind the scenes at Fratton Park.

The 0-0 draw with Burnley on Saturday (1 February) was a positive result, but that one point from the past nine on offer is not good enough.

Mousinho’s men need to find some wins if they are to stay up, and it feels as though some signings will be required if that is to happen.
