Isaac Hayden says 24/25 Portsmouth star destined for Premier League career
Isaac Hayden is set to depart Portsmouth, having spent the second half of the season on loan from Premier League outfit Newcastle United.
The 30-year-old has been instrumental to Pompey’s survival, and it is no coincidence that their upturn in form corresponded with his arrival.
Although the midfielder will take some of the plaudits, he has turned attention to one of his teammates, whom he has tipped for greatness.

Hayden predicts big future for Pompey teammate
Hayden made 17 appearances for John Mousinho’s side in the second half of the campaign, becoming a regular fixture at Fratton Park.
Given his parent club’s success this season, there is a strong possibility that Pompey could sign him permanently this summer.
One player who will be returning to the Premier League is Freddie Potts, who spent the season on loan from West Ham United.
Potts played a pivotal role in the hub of Mousinho’s midfield and made 37 Championship appearances, scoring once and assisting four more.
| Freddie Potts’ 2024/25 Championship statistics with Portsmouth | Total |
| Appearances | 37 |
| Goals | 1 |
| Assists | 4 |
| Touches | 48.3 |
| Accurate passes | 26.5 (78%) |
After such a strong season in the Championship, Hayden has backed him to make a mark in the top flight.
Responding to Potts’ farewell post on Instagram (May 4), he said: “Good luck mate, got some career ahead of you in the EPL. Keep working hard.”
Potts must be patient for West Ham opportunity
Considering that Potts has proved himself in the second tier, he must now remain patient for a chance at West Ham United.
The Hammers are enduring a season to forget and sit 17th in the Premier League with a substantial gap on the relegation zone.
Graham Potter was tasked with turning the club’s fortunes around after the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui, but he has struggled to do so.
The East London outfit currently have Edson Alvarez, Thomas Soucek and Guido Rodriguez as defensive-midfield options.
However, they will have to strengthen their squad in the summer, with Alvarez linked with a move away from the London Stadium.
George Earthy is set to return from his loan with Bristol City, while Sunderland’s Chris Rigg is a potential target.
This means that Potts will likely need to bide his time before being given a chance unless Potter puts more faith in youth.
