Portsmouth’s players may not be out on the pitch at the moment, but they cannot get the city out of their minds.

Pompey oversaw a successful season back in the Championship as they avoided relegation and finished a respectable 16th

John Mousinho rightly earned plenty of praise for this achievement, with the South Coast club now aiming to build on this success.

However, with the season now over, many stars are using this time to relax and take football off their minds.

Yet, Josh Murphy is seemingly obsessed with Pompey as he has likened a Dubai landmark to an iconic Portsmouth building.

Murphy prefers the Spinnaker Tower to Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab

Coming into a side that had just won the League One title, the winger quickly became the South Coast club’s best player.

Arriving on a free from Oxford United, the 30-year-old had an insane output in the Championship and finished with 21 goal contributions.

Murphy had an excellent season at Portsmouth

As a result, now that the season is over, Murphy has earned a well-deserved break and is currently in Dubai, a major city in the United Arab Emirates.

However, Portsmouth is still clearly on his mind as he mocked the country’s iconic hotel, the Burj Al Arab.

On his Instagram story (17 May), the 30-year-old posted a photo of the hotel with the caption: “Btec Spinnaker Tower”.

Mousinho needs to target more players like Murphy

It is no secret that without Murphy, Portsmouth would have likely gone down.

The winger was instrumental to the campaign and will likely be a key player next season.

However, Portsmouth cannot just rely on the winger, and Mousinho needs to target more bargains like Murphy if they are to build on their recent success.

Hopefully, the manager will already have some targets in mind as the transfer window edges closer.
