Portsmouth appear to be looking for a new right-winger in this summer's transfer window.

That would be a fair assumption following news that Matt Ritchie could be allowed to leave the club.

John Mousinho has told Ritchie that he can't expect to be a regular starter, which would suggest that he has a new trick up his sleeve.

Rangers set to move for Hull ace Kamara

Portsmouth fans might believe that the news surrounding Ritchie could mean that Pompey are planning to bid for Abu Kamara.

Kamara enjoyed a successful loan spell at Fratton Park in 2023-24, and Mousinho has not hidden his continued admiration for the Hull City star.

It had previously been thought that Hull wouldn't sell Kamara for a price that Portsmouth could afford to pay.

However, that may have changed now that Hull are in dire financial straits. The Tigers could potentially be forced to sell star players at a discounted price this summer.

If Portsmouth want to make a move for Kamara, they'll have to be fast.

That is because a report from Sky Sports on Thursday (10 July, 10:46am) suggests that Glasgow Rangers are preparing to bid for the winger.

Kamara return would help to soften the blow of losing Ritchie

Many Pompey fans were surprised and disappointed at the news that their home-grown star Ritchie could be allowed to leave.

He was one of Pompey's most consistent performers last season and still looks like he has plenty to offer, even at 35 years old.

Some have suggested that new signing Adrian Segecic could be utilised on the right wing. He's certainly capable of playing there, although he's believed to be more comfortable in the number 10 role.

However, if Portsmouth were to sell Ritchie and use the money to help fund Kamara's return, it would be seen as a Mousinho transfer masterclass.

Kamara didn't have the best campaign with Hull, but he is still coveted by many Pompey fans who would love to see him back at Fratton Park.

With Rangers preparing a bid, we could discover Mousinho's intentions very soon.
