Three strikers Portsmouth could sign before transfer window shuts including Premier League icon
Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has admitted that it has been very hard to sign a new striker this summer.
Mousinho only has Colby Bishop and Thomas Waddingham as out-and-out strikers in his first-team squad.
Bishop will be the undisputed first-choice, and Mousinho admits that it has made it difficult to sign more strikers with proven Championship pedigree.
He may, therefore, have to utilise the loan market to acquire a young striker willing to act as an understudy to Bishop.
Below, Pompey News outlined three strikers that Portsmouth could target before the transfer window closes.

Dane Scarlett
Tottenham striker Dane Scarlett was sent on loan to Portsmouth in 2022-23 when Danny Cowley was manager.
He was just 18 at the time, but scored six goals for the Blues in League One.
Scarlett has developed since then. He made 20 appearances on loan at Oxford last season, scoring four goals in the Championship.
He also appeared three times for Spurs in the Premier League and twice in the Europa League.
Tottenham have been busy in the transfer market, though, so another loan move is likely the best for Scarlett’s development.
With Portsmouth short of strikers, perhaps they could arrange a temporary deal with Scarlett once again.

Chido Obi
Chido Obi is a highly-rated striker currently on the books at Manchester United.
Obi, 17, made his Premier League debut for United last season and appeared seven times in total.
However, with Manchester United having just signed Benjamin Sesko, the next best step for Obi’s development would likely be a loan move to the Championship.
The Danish striker could gain some much-needed experience at Fratton Park.
Michail Antonio
Michail Antonio was officially released by West Ham earlier in August after ten years at the club.
The Jamaican striker was badly injured in a car crash last year, but he insists that he’s back to full fitness and ready to do a job for a new team.

Antonio’s wages could be a stumbling block, although these could be negotiated depending on how many teams are interested in signing him.
The 35-year-old could certainly be worth a punt on a short-term deal.
