Portsmouth will claim an extra £11k from ticket sales against Luton Town due to extra availability, which will follow suit in later fixtures.

The club advertised [Portsmouth FC site, 9 August] approximately an extra 400 tickets for the first Championship match at Fratton Park since 2012, with an added capacity delivered by the summer redevelopments at the stadium.

Investment from the Tornante Company of over £15m ensured that the facilities at Pompey were running parallel with the glamour of the new division, and the club will recoup over £11,000 from each home game in which they can sell these extra tickets.

A sell-out crowd is expected in PO4 for the return of Championship football against Luton Town, with the following home fixture against Sunderland on 31 August already sold out.

Portsmouth slowly recouping extra funds

In football terms, £10-15,000 is a drop in the ocean, but Rome wasn't built in a day.

It was integral that Portsmouth kept with the times whilst also maintaining the tradition - and hopefully fortress-style ferocity - of their home of football.

Extra custom will also be an advantage for the club with the renovations which have taken place in the lounges, a new mezzanine and of course, the extra seating.

Significant investment has taken place at Portsmouth off the pitch

There are new food and drink options for fans to enjoy, numerous different hospitality packages and the key installation of safe standing - all geared towards thoroughly enhancing what some declared to be an outdated matchday experience.

CEO Andy Cullen is confident Pompey remain in a fruitful financial position and that investment elsewhere - including in the club's infrastructure - will not affect transfer business and other matters concerning the first-team squad, which is something fans will increasingly remind the club of in the coming days.
