Josh Murphy has made a joke on his social media after Portsmouth secured a late draw against Derby County on Saturday.

Pompey stole a point on 12 April as Rob Atkinson atoned for his previous own goal with a brace, scoring his second in the 91st minute at Fratton Park.

This saw John Eustace's men drop two points despite taking the lead on two separate occasions as both sides look to survive in the Championship.

With that being said, John Mousinho would have been hoping for a top performance from Murphy, but his best efforts have ended in a hilarious moment.

Murphy makes joke after Portsmouth miss v Derby County

The summer signing from Oxford United has easily been one of the most important players at Pompey in his debut campaign in PO4.

This has seen the Englishman net seven Championship goals while assisting a further 11, adding to that with another setup against the Rams.

With that being said, the former Cardiff City man was unable to get on the scoresheet at Fratton Park to help secure an important win.

This didn't come without trying, as the winger took aim with half an hour to spare but somehow managed to clear Fratton Park entirely with his effort.

It is fair to say that this was met with a mixed reaction inside the ground, but Murphy saw the funny side after a point was secured.

Taking to his Instagram story (12 April), he shared an image of his shot with an arrow pointing to the ball with the caption: "Please return to kit man if found."

Murphy deserves off day at Portsmouth

The 30-year-old may have contributed against the East Midlands outfit with one of the worst attempted shots that Fratton Park has ever seen, but it is fair to say he won't be slammed for it.

Murphy has been the heartbeat of the side under Mousinho and has ultimately had a huge say in Pompey remaining in the second tier.

Although a draw against Derby wasn't ideal, it has left the south coast side four points clear of the bottom three with just four games remaining.

It will certainly be interesting to see what sort of impact Murphy can continue to have as he looks to make up for the shortfalls of the likes of Colby Bishop.
