Portsmouth oversaw a highly successful deadline day on Monday to round off the transfer window.

Four players joined Pompey, with Conor Chaplin’s move to Fratton Park no doubt being the highlight.

However, while the window may now be closed, there is still a possibility that more faces will come through the door in the coming weeks.

The free agent market is brimming with talent, with multiple players available that would upgrade John Mousinho’s squad.

As a result, Pompey News has highlighted three players that Portsmouth could sign in the coming weeks.

Patrick Bamford

Patrick Bamford was released by Leeds United in August after failing to find a new club.

The striker has long been clinical in England and was the Peacocks’ main attacker for years.

While the 31-year-old’s ability may have decline, he could still be a great back-up to Colby Bishop.

With Callum Lang currently out injured, the current back-up is Thomas Waddingham, with question marks looming over the Portsmouth striker.

Therefore, Bamford would no doubt be an upgrade on the Australian and could prove to be a fantastic signing.

On a short-term deal, little could go wrong if it was clear that the striker wasn’t up to standard.

Jamal Lewis

Jamal Lewis is no doubt a top full-back.

The former Newcastle United defender was released in the summer after loan spells at Watford and Sao Paulo.

Therefore, Portsmouth have a potential bargain on their hands if they are able to convince the left-back to join.

The 39-cap Northern Irish international would surely be an upgrade on Connor Ogilvie, and would go straight into the starting XI.

Hopefully, Mousinho considers making a deal before another club swoops in.

Craig Dawson

Craig Dawson is a highly experienced centre-back, playing most of his career in the Premier League.

Most recently at Wolves, the defender was released in the summer at the end of his contract.

While he might not be good enough for the English top-flight anymore, there is no reason why the 35-year-old could not drop down into the Championship.

The centre-back could prove to be a great back-up, and would add experience now that Matt Ritchie has left Portsmouth.

On top of this, Tom McIntyre’s departure to Bradford on loan means that Pompey are now down a defender.
