Portsmouth fans on social media have noticed Tino Anjorin is absent from Chelsea's travelling squad to the United States in pre-season.

Many on the South Coast would be open to a return to the club for the midfielder, who spent last season on loan with the Blues but suffered a long-term absence through the middle of the campaign with a hamstring tear.

Anjorin showed his ability in the 12 league games he played in 2023-24, and has claimed to be open for another opportunity in the Championship at Fratton Park.

Tino Anjorin chance of Portsmouth return?

Some Portsmouth fans have already clocked Anjorin's absence from Chelsea's Stateside squad, with 28 players included as the Premier League side posted their travelling party on X [22 July].

The midfielder returned to fitness towards the latter stages of the triumphant League One season, consolidating him a medal for his contribution to promotion.

John Mousinho will know he needs extra cover in the middle of the park, with only Marlon Pack and Owen Moxon listed as typical central midfielders in his first-team squad.

Anjorin - alongside Australian Manchester City star Alex Robertson - both offered central options on loan last term, and Mousinho along with Rich Hughes have both exhibited an openness to getting the pair back.

Albeit brief, the 22-year-old does have Championship experience to an extent, whilst with Huddersfield Town in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.

Weighing up Anjorin's fitness concerns with how he can positively impact Mousinho's side is the careful decision the club will have to call if his availability becomes certain.
