View: Tino Anjorin can still play big Portsmouth role after 'heartbreaking' admission

Tino Anjorin admits it has been "heartbreaking" not being able to play a bigger part for Portsmouth while on loan from Chelsea.

The 22-year-old spent five months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury sustained against Chesterfield in November.

Anjorin made his return to action as a second-half substitute in the 2-2 draw with Derby County on Tuesday (2 April).

"It was heartbreaking not to be able to contribute more with this brilliant group," Anjorin told BBC Radio Solent [3 April].

"The fact I was missing out on so much of this season was absolutely gutting for me."

The talented attacker did not have the biggest of impacts in his 20 minutes or so on the field against Derby, but that is understandable given the circumstances.

Anjorin did not muster any attempts, but his two tackles were bettered only by Lee Evans (five), showing he is not afraid to get stuck in.

Across his eight League One outings for the campaign, Anjorin has averaged a 77-per-cent accuracy in terms of pass completion [Sofascore].

His 0.8 dribbles per game, meanwhile, is bettered only by Alex Robertson (1.1) and Abu Kamara (1.3) [WhoScored].

Pompey are not quite over the promotion-winning line just yet, with seven points still required.

If Anjorin can quickly build up his fitness and match sharpness, he could yet play his own big part before the campaign is over.
