Portsmouth will be raring to go when they host Watford in Championship action on Monday.

John Mousinho's side secured a huge three points in a 5-3 win against Norwich at Carrow Road on Friday (18 April), with Colby Bishop bagging a hat-trick.

They will be looking to further their six-point gap to the relegation zone against the Hornets on 21 April and will be confident of doing so, given their recent form.

The visitors have won just one of their last five in the league and have nothing to play for as they are 10 points behind the play-off places with just three matches to play.

Latest news

Pompey took a huge leap towards survival with the result on Friday and they will confirm their second tier status with victory, but anything else could leave Mousinho's team requiring other results to go in their favour.

The race to avoid the drop.

The Opta Supercomputer backs the Fratton Park outfit to get the job done, as it has predicted them to have a 43.2 per chance of beating Tom Cleverley's side.

In terms on injuries, Conor Shaughnessy could return to action on Easter Monday but Paddy Lane, Hayden Matthews, Callum Lang and Jacob Farrell are all ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Mousinho is expected to make two changes, with Zak Swanson and Andre Dozzell replacing Jordan Williams and Isaac Hayden for the contest.

For the visitors, Moussa Sissoko and Edo Kayembe are suspended after they received red cards against Burnley last time out, while Kevin Keben and Zavier Massiah-Edwards could return.

Meanwhile, Amin Nabizada, Kwadwo Baah, Giorgi Chakvetadze and Yasser Larouci are out for the rest of the season.

The Hornets are expected to make two changes, with Vakoun Bayo and Tom Ince replacing Kayembe and Sissoko in the starting line-up.

The game could prove to be huge for Pompey as they can secure their survival with two matches left to spare.

Failure to win is not a disaster but it would be nice to get it done early.
