Portsmouth Women showed true fighting spirit as they twice recovered from behind to see off Cheltenham Town Ladies 3-2.

After being afforded a guard of honour prior to kick-off in Sunday's (21 April) contest, Pompey showed the spirit of champions in their narrow win.

Ella Humphrey was the star of the show as her hat-trick ensured Pompey's final away game of the 2024-25 campaign ended triumphant.

Portsmouth Women maintain momentum

Despite the title already being in the bag, Jay Sadler has been eager for his side to keep their momentum going until the end of the campaign.

After easing to a 3-0 win over Plymouth last time out, this proved to be a much tougher test in Cheltenham.

However, goals from Henna Butcher and the unlucky Dani Lane were cancelled out both times by Humphrey.

Sadler's charges were not content with a battling point, though, and went on to find a winner thanks to Humphrey's cool finish.

The victory leaves Portsmouth Women on 58 points from 21 matches, nine points better off than Hashtag United in second place.

Pompey will now look to end their successful campaign with three more points at home to London Bees on 5 May.
