Portsmouth are expected to face a tougher Sheffield Wednesday side on Friday night [25 October] with the Owls looking forward to fitness returns, according to the Sheffield Star.

Wednesday boss Danny Rohl addressed the media on 24 October and confirmed forward Anthony Musaba is in contention to return from injury at Fratton Park.

Josh Windass could also make a comeback after a short absence due to personal reasons, while Pompey deal with a multitude of injuries themselves.

Rohl said: "Anthony Musaba is good, he trained today and it’s good to have him back as an option.

"Everyone has had two days' recovery, and despite the short time look very sharp, we have just had a short session and I can feel the energy."

Sheffield Wednesday enjoy returns as Portsmouth suffer injuries

While Portsmouth will be offered no favours by the anticipated returns of Musaba and Windass on Friday, the primary issue is the club's own treatment table.

Pompey have been besieged by injuries all season so far, and took a triple blow in Tuesday's defeat by Cardiff City [22 October].

Jordan Williams, Nicolas Schmid and Paddy Lane were all forced off in South Wales which leaves John Mousinho's selection pool considerably more bare.

Fratton Park remains yet to witness a home win since the club's return to the Championship, and Wednesday will feel relieved with their attacking boost having failed to score in three of their last four games.

The fixture rounds off October for the club, before visiting Hull City on 2 November.
