Crystal Palace stars send messages as Franco Umeh posts first Portsmouth images

Franco Umeh was one of four Portsmouth stars to move to Fratton Park on deadline day. 

The 20-year-old is thought to have high potential and has featured in the Republic of Ireland’s Under 21s squad multiple times.

As a result, Portsmouth paid £500,000 to bring Umeh to Fratton Park, with the youngster able to operate down the left flank.

Now, the former Cork City star is no doubt excited to get his Pompey career underway once the international break finishes.

Tyrick Mitchell leads departure messages as Franco Umeh moves to Portsmouth 

While Umeh is no doubt pleased to move to Portsmouth, many at Crystal Palace are sad to see the winger go.

The 20-year-old had commonly featured on the bench for the Eagles last season, but unfortunately, he never made his first-team debut.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner had also previously claimed that Umeh had a lot of talent, which will no doubt excite Portsmouth fans.

However, injuries have also plagued Umeh's career at Palace in recent months in what will no doubt be a slight concern.

Now that the move has become official, the 20-year-old has taken to Instagram on 1 September to celebrate his move.

Umeh posted a photo of himself in a Portsmouth kit with two blue love hearts as a caption.

This obviously received plenty of attention, with multiple Crystal Palace players responding to the post.

Tyrick Mitchell put: “Good luck bro,” with a love heart and fire emoji.

Justin Devenny responded with a heart hands and fire emoji.

While Adler Nascimento simply put a goat emoji.

Pompey fans will need to be patient with Franco Umeh

Now that Umeh is a Pompey player, fans will be looking forward to seeing the youngster in action.

However, it is key to remember that Umeh has not played any first-team football since his days at Cork City, and may take time to adapt to the Championship.

While the 20-year-old does have plenty of potential, it does not mean that he is ready for second-tier football on 14 September.

Therefore, Portsmouth must be patient and support Umeh from the stands if he appears to be struggling.
