Portsmouth have completed their winter transfer business and emerge from the window stronger than they approached it.

Two more signings were secured on Deadline Day at Fratton Park, as multiple departures also cleared space in the squad and offered a new start to several players for more minutes.

Pompey's aim from the window had to be to come out of it looking in better shape, which can be said to be the case.

Eight arrivals in all were captured, with several of them including Rob Atkinson and Isaac Hayden already having made positive impacts.

Portsmouth now on straight survival mission

With John Mousinho, Rich Hughes and their backroom staff having worked tirelessly to get several new recruits over the line, the full focus now turns to the football itself.

Mousinho in particular will be glad the window has passed, knowing the set of players he has to work with in full - bar the possibility of any leaving for pastures new in nations whose windows remain open.

Among the deadline day exits, Will Norris was allowed to terminate his contract and sign for Wycombe Wanderers, who begin a new chapter under the helm of Mike Dodds starting this week.

Owen Moxon was let go to return north with Stockport County in a permanent deal, while Tom McIntyre agreed a loan deal with Charlton Athletic until the end of the season in League One.

Ryley Towler has notably remained at Fratton Park despite mixed communication about his future, while goalkeeper Ben Killip replaced Norris, and Kaide Gordon arrived on loan from Liverpool.

The hope now is that all the new arrivals can bed in quickly, make a positive impression as the early signings of January have done, and all contribute to the vital goal of safety come May.
