Portsmouth are eyeing a move for Mark Kosznovszky this summer in a bid to improve their squad.

John Mousinho’s side are now being more active in the transfer window.

Adrian Segecic became Portsmouth’s first signing of the summer last week, and now the South Coast club are looking to add to this.

Kosznovszky has been linked to Pompey, with a £850k bid expected for the MTK Budapest star.

Now, Mousinho has received a potential boost in his pursuit for the midfielder.

Kosznovszky previously wanted by Norwich and Blackburn

Portsmouth have been after a new midfielder all summer after Freddie Potts returned to West Ham.

Therefore, Kosznovszky may be the perfect replacement, with the 23-year-old picking up seven goal contributions last season.

However, Portsmouth are not the first English side to be linked with the Hungarian.

Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider (20 December 2024), that Norwich and Blackburn were both eyeing a move for the midfielder in the January transfer window.

At the time, it was said that Kosznovszky was keen to play in England.

This could be a massive boost for Portsmouth in the race to sign the Hungarian.

If other European teams enter the race for the midfielder, surely Pompey will have an advantage given his preference.

Hopefully, his desire has not changed, and Portsmouth are now able to get the transfer over the line.

Mousinho needs two midfielders this summer

If Kosznovszky is signed at Fratton Park, Mousinho cannot end his pursuit of new midfielders there.

A second would be needed to provide quality cover to the rest of the team, as well as add more competition.

If not, this could prove to be costly for Mousinho, especially if injuries and suspensions come into play.

Hopefully, the manager has additional targets in mind to complete this goal or Portsmouth may find themselves struggling again next season.
