Andrew Moon shares further details as Portsmouth player set for permanent exit
Portsmouth are working hard behind the scenes to build a squad capable of thriving in the Championship.
Portsmouth have already signed Adrian Segecic, but it’s widely believed that more signings are needed to build on last season’s 16th-place finish.
However, BBC journalist Andrew Moon has shared a further update about a player who could be leaving Fratton Park imminently.

Ryley Towler on verge of Lincoln City transfer
There have been rumours of League One clubs showing an interest in Pompey defender Ryley Towler.
Towler only made 12 Championship appearances for Pompey last season, and John Mousinho has admitted that some centre-backs may be sold this summer.
Now, in a new post on social media platform X (7 July), Moon has followed up those previous reports by claiming Towler is “on the verge” of joining Lincoln.
Moon is considered a reliable source for all things Pompey, and is currently in Bratislava covering the latest news from their pre-season training camp.
He added that this deal for Towler would be a permanent signing, although it remains unclear how much money Pompey would gain from the sale.
Towler, who joined Pompey in January 2023, would join strikers Kusini Yengi and Christian Saydee in leaving the club this summer.
Pompey are well covered in defence, even if Towler leaves
Portsmouth were suffering an injury crisis in defence at the start of 2025, which led to Mousinho signing Rob Atkinson on loan and moving Marlon Pack into the centre of defence.
This was a tough period of the season for Pompey, especially after Atkinson would go on to get injured as well.
However, some fans might not remember that Pack was actually chosen ahead of Towler for some games during that spell.
The former Bristol City man should have known the writing was on the wall for him after that.

Towler did OK in his 12 league appearances last season, but Regan Poole, Conor Shaughnessy and Hayden Matthews have all returned to fitness. They’ll be picked ahead of him, for sure.
So, it’s probably best for everyone that the 23-year-old moves on. Towler excelled in League One with Pompey and would surely prove to be a great signing for Lincoln in that league as well.
