Portsmouth fans are unfortunately going to have to wait just over a week to see their side back in action.

The international break has once again halted the season, despite only four Championship matches being played.

Nevertheless, once second-tier action returns, Pompey face a busy month, with Portsmouth travelling to Southampton on 14 September for the South Coast derby.

The week after, Fratton Park will also spring into action, with Sheffield Wednesday visiting. However, it could be quieter than usual, with Owls fans considering a boycott.

Sheffield Wednesday fans urged to boycott vs Portsmouth due to Dejphon Chansiri

While many Pompey fans will be looking forward to seeing Conor Chaplin back at Fratton Park after re-signing, Sheffield Wednesday had a horrific summer.

The Owls lost many of their players from the previous campaign, with their owner, Dejphon Chansiri, seemingly no closer to selling the Yorkshire club despite protests.

As a result, when Sheffield Wednesday announced via X on 3 September the ticket details for their trip to Fratton Park, many fans took this moment to voice their displeasure and call for a boycott.

However, others were prepared to go to the match, much to the annoyance of others.

Portsmouth will look to end awful run against Sheffield Wednesday

Given the awful state Sheffield Wednesday are in right now, Portsmouth will be heavy favourites for the match.

Pompey are already on fine form this season, and three points will be expected against the Owls.

In the past, the South Coast club have traditionally struggled, with Sheffield Wednesday beating Portsmouth 2-1 at Fratton Park last season.

In fact, Pompey have not beaten the Yorkshire side since 2002, in a 3-1 victory at Hillsborough.

Therefore, many fans will no doubt be hoping that this terrible run will finally come to an end on 20 September, and Portsmouth can finally achieve a victory against the Owls.
