David Norris shares 'Worrying' admission as Portsmouth injury news emerges

Portsmouth will continue to miss Callum Lang over the course of the next few games, according to David Norris.

Lang was forced off last weekend against Burnley with an injury which will keep him out for "two to three weeks", following a goalscoring performance at Turf Moor.

The 26-year-old - often operated as a number 10 this season - has scored three goals and put in some determined displays.

Speaking exclusively to Pompey News, former Blues man Norris said: "I think Portsmouth will miss Lang as he is a consistent performer with an excellent work-rate.

"There will be a huge hole in the next few weeks which Pompey have to contend with.

"He has a real effect on the team and has been driven this season so it's a bit worrying, and hopefully the timescale is accurate and he'll be back soon."

While Lang has been one of Portsmouth's key performers in the opening stages of the season against some tough opponents, the team did put in a good shift without him on Saturday (28 September).

The goalless draw with Sheffield United saw Sammy Silvera, Josh Murphy and Paddy Lane start in behind Mark O'Mahony up top, veering away from the utilisation of Lang as a central creative player.

Confidence was a springboard for Lang's momentum in the first few weeks of 2024-25, aided by a brace against Leeds United on the opening weekend - the first of which an absolute piledriver at Elland Road.

It is now up to Pompey's other attacking outlets to deliver as the side look for their first Championship win while Lang recuperates.

And the hope will be that the former Wigan Athletic forward can return to his best form and pick up where he left off.
