John Mousinho's man-management tested after Ryan Kavuma-McQueen call for Portsmouth XI vs Sheffield Utd
John Mousinho has named his Portsmouth starting lineup for the visit of Sheffield United on Wednesday night.
Pompey are hoping to put the disappointment of Sunday's South Coast derby defeat to Southampton behind them this evening.
That will be easier said than done, however, as Chris Wilder's Sheffield United present a sizeable challenge.
Blades are fresh off the back of a 3-0 win over Lincoln City last time out, snapping a three-game losing run in the process.
There were a number of frustrating performances from those in blue shirts at St Mary's last weekend, one of which being that of Ryan Kavuma-McQueen.
Mousinho's decision to withdraw him at half-time in that one instantly set up a fascinating call to be made on the Chelsea loanee at Fratton Park tonight.
What Portsmouth team has John Mousinho named vs Sheffield United?
If Portsmouth are to start climbing the table this season, they must make Fratton Park a fortress.
However, with just one win and two defeats already on their home record this term, improvement in that regard needs to be made ASAP.
Hoping to make a start on that tonight, Mousinho goes with Nicolas Schmid in goal with Jayden Meghoma and Zak Swanson as the full-backs.
Madiodio Dia and Regan Poole form Pompey's centre-back pairing once again tonight.
In central midfield, Ebou Adams drops to the bench in favour of Iyad Mohamed, who plays next to the captain Marlon Pack.
On the left sees Tyrese Shade dropped to the bench with Adrian Segecic replacing him, whilst Kavuma-McQueen is trusted to start once again down the right.
Abu Kamara will sit in the number 10 role behind Marko Milovanovic, who is fit to start again and comes in to replace Colby Bishop in three changes.
The inclusion of Kavuma-McQueen will be a big talking point amongst fans, as Mousinho has stuck his neck on the line for the teenager in a big way.
Sheffield United could be watershed night for Kavuma-McQueen
After joining on loan from Chelsea this summer, Kavuma-McQueen has been one of the big positives from Portsmouth's season so far.
The 17-year-old has been a breathe of fresh air at Fratton Park, with his no-fear performances instantly earning him a place in the hearts of many fans.
However, given his tender age and lack of experience, peaks and troughs were always bound to come for the England youth international.
Being replaced at half-time against Southampton was perhaps his toughest moment in a Pompey shirt so far.
Mousinho took him out of the firing line and protected him from further anguish in the second half, but has sent a clear message of trust to him tonight.
How Kavuma-McQueen performs tonight will say a lot for Mousinho's man-management, as if he shines, the Pompey boss clearly said and did the right things this week.
If not, then the 40-year-old may get some heat from supporters, and perhaps an angry phone call from Chelsea, questioning his decision to put him straight back in.
