Zak Swanson may never score a better goal than the one he did in Portsmouth's win over Sheffield United.

Wednesday night saw John Mousinho's side welcome Chris Wilder's Sheffield United to Fratton Park.

The pain from last weekend's South Coast derby defeat will have largely subsided now, as Pompey put the Blades to the sword.

Swanson opened the scoring after 41 minutes, before United were reduced to 10 just before the half-time whistle blew.

Adrian Segecic made it two 10 minutes into the second half, before Japhet Tanganga quickly got one back for the away side.

Tom Cannon equalised in the 67th minute, before Ebou Adams came off the bench to net the winner just before the clock ticked round to 90 for a massive 3-2 victory.

How did Marlon Pack and Colby Bishop describe Zak Swanson's goal?

But, there was only one moment from Wednesday night's win that was on every Portsmouth fans' lips leaving Fratton Park: Swanson's screamer.

The 26-year-old full-back isn't renowned for his goalscoring, having netted seven in 120 Pompey games prior to the clash with Sheffield United.

He did, however, score on against Blades that will forever be talked about by the Fratton Park faithful.

Picking the ball up on the left after a poor clearance by United, Swanson shifted the ball over to his right foot before unleashing at goal from around 22 yards out.

His venomous effort sailed over Michael Cooper in the Blades goal and only the top corner of the net stopped the ball from still travelling even now.

Taking to his Instagram after the game, Colby Bishop shared Portsmouth's post marking Swanson's goal and said: "Super Swanson."

Meanwhile, Marlon Pack also had the same idea as Bishop, as he also posted a message to him via his Instagram story.

Sharing a video of Swanson's goal, the Pompey captain said: "Absurd Swanson."

But aside from his goal, just how good was Swanson's overall performance against Sheffield United?

Swanson further cements right-back role vs Sheffield United

A versatile full-back, Swanson has been tasked by Mousinho to go and make Portsmouth's right-back spot his own in recent games.

With two goals from his last three Championship outings, the former Arsenal academy prospect is well on his way to doing that.

Per FotMob, Swanson completed 33 accurate passes against Blades, whilst also playing five passes into the final third.

He also played three accurate long balls, made one tackle, interception and recovery whilst also winning a foul.

Two of his four ground duels were won as well as two of his three in the air, however he was inaccurate with all five of his cross attempts.

Wednesday night will see Swanson's display remembered for his goal, but his overall performance was one to bookmark too.
