Portsmouth could once again be fighting to keep John Mousinho, with another Championship job set to become available.

Since Mousinho has walked through the doors at Fratton Park, he has worked wonders.

The 39-year-old has taken the club from the depths of League One to Championship security in just over two years.

Mousinho has been heavily praised for these feats at Portsmouth. However, Pompey could now be fighting to keep him at the club.

Hull City are set to sack Ruben Selles

Mousinho has been regularly linked away from Portsmouth over the past few weeks.

West Brom are believed to be interested in Mousinho as they look for a replacement for Tony Mowbray.

However, another Championship club could be about to join the race for the 39-year-old.

According to Hull Live (15 May), Hull City boss Ruben Selles is set to be sacked by the Tigers on Thursday (15 May) in a bombshell twist.

The former Reading FC boss was only appointed in December and guided the East Yorkshire side to safety on the final day.

However, with Hull City having Premier League ambitions, they may try to sway Mousinho to switch Fratton Park for the MKM Stadium this summer.

The Englishman would likely be given a bigger budget, but the pressure would quickly be on to find success due to Hull’s inpatient owner.

Portsmouth may struggle to keep Mousinho throughout the 2025/26 campaign

While it is unlikely that Mousinho will move to Hull City this summer, it is no doubt going to be a challenge for Portsmouth to keep hold of their manager long-term.

His work has clearly caught the eye of multiple Championship sides, and it will not be long until someone makes a move.

This feels inevitable if Portsmouth have a good start to their 2025/26 campaign, especially with how quickly teams make a change if results are going poorly.

Hopefully, Portsmouth ride the storm and keep Mousinho, but this seems less likely as each day passes.
