View: Portsmouth make decision on Fratton Park future of Liam Vincent with new transfer announcement

Another Portsmouth youngster is heading for the Fratton Park exit as Liam Vincent has extended his loan stay with Tonbridge Angels.

The 21-year-old joined Portsmouth from Bromley in 2021 but has yet to make a senior appearance for the club.

With Vincent’s contract due to be up at the end of the season, it means that he will depart without making his senior bow barring a change of heart from Pompey.

Vincent has been a success with Tonbridge, hence their eagerness to keep him on board, but it does not bode well for his long-term future.

Tonbridge, who are 13th in the National League South, announced the loan extension on their official website on Friday (22 March).

Portsmouth injury list growing

Portsmouth are into double-figures in terms of injury lay-offs, and yet John Mousinho does not see a place for Vincent in his ranks.

The left-back, who has showed his versatility this season by playing elsewhere, will now likely forge a career further down the pyramid.

Having also had loan spells with Maidstone United, Hampton & Richmond and Worthing, it is unlikely he will be short of suitors in the summer.

As previously reported by The News, 11 members of Portsmouth’s youth ranks are set to depart at the end of the campaign.

So while the senior side are on the up with automatic promotion to the Championship looking a strong possibility, the future is not so bright for the youngsters.

In other Portsmouth news, the club’s automatic promotion prospects have been boosted after an update shared by Mousinho.
