View: John Mousinho has Christian Saydee dilemma ahead of Portsmouth v Wycombe Wanderers

John Mousinho has confirmed that Christian Saydee is likely to miss Friday’s (29 March) League One clash with Wycombe Wanderers.

The attacking midfielder is struggling with a hamstring issue that Mousinho was hopeful at the time was nothing too serious.

While Saydee is not expected to be out for much longer, the trip to Adams Park on Good Friday looks set to come too soon for him.

BBC South reporter Andrew Moon shared the update via Mousinho on his personal X account on Wednesday (28 March).

In more positive news, Tino Anjorin may return from a long-term lay-off and Kusini Yengi, a possible replacement for Saydee, could also return.

Saydee’s absence will be felt if he is indeed unable to feature, though, as he has played his part in this sustained push for automatic promotion.

In the 2-1 win over Burton Albion – his most recent outing prior to going off versus Peterborough United – he registered a 75-per-cent pass-completion rate [WhoScored].

He also had 50 touches of the ball, which was the fourth-most of any Portsmouth midfielder or attacker, behind Marlon Pack (92), Owen Moxon (78) and Paddy Lane (59).

Saydee may not have been a regular starter all season, but he has still featured prominently for Mousinho, playing in 29 of Pompey’s 39 league matches.

The attacking midfielder’s 0.8 dribbles per game on average this season is bettered only by Anjorin (0.9), Alex Robertson (1.1) and Abu Kamara (1.3.).

It means one option less for Mousinho to call upon for now, but Portsmouth do at least have other options to help see the job through and earn a return to the Championship.
