Jamie O’Hara delivers Portsmouth message ahead of crucial Wycombe clash

Jamie O’Hara has sent a message to Portsmouth ahead of their crucial trip to Wycombe Wanderers on Good Friday (29 March).

The 37-year-old, now a host on talkSPORT, featured 29 times in all competitions for Pompey during the 2009-10 season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.

In the present day, John Mousinho’s side are top of the table and nine points clear of third with seven games to play and face a crucial Easter double header with Wycombe and second-placed Derby County (2 April).

O’Hara took to X (29 March) to rally the Pompey troops prior to their trip to Adams Park, writing: “Pompey are nearly there come on lads.”

Portsmouth looking for big Easter weekend

O’Hara was a very popular figure during his time at Fratton Park and was voted as Portsmouth’s Player of the Year for the 2009-10 campaign, to emphasise how well he did for the club during that time.

Clearly there is still a strong affinity all those involved at Fratton Park from O’Hara as he took the time out to send a good luck message ahead of what is absolutely huge Easter weekend for Mousinho’s side.

Portsmouth are in a fantastic position. They are five points clear of Derby, who have played a game more, while the gap to Bolton Wanderers in third sits at nine points, so they are closing in on their ultimate aim.

Football can be a cruel mistress at times, though, and Mousinho will be keen to stress how important it is to stay focused over the coming days because a decent return over Easter would leave his side even closer to the Championship.

In other Portsmouth news, Mousinho delivered a triple injury update prior to the Wycombe clash.
