View: John Mousinho update could be bad news for Owen Moxon in Portsmouth v Bolton Wanderers

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho has confirmed Tom Lowery is in line to make his return to action against Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

Lowery has not played since the 3-1 win over Cambridge United on 13 February due to injury, but he returned to full training this week.

While Pompey have not exactly struggled in his absence, the 26-year-old’s return to the squad is undoubtedly a positive for Mousinho.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s (13 April) trip to Bolton, as per the club’s official website, Mousinho said: “He hasn’t missed any sessions and is available for the weekend, which is massive boost for us and our focus is on keeping him fit.”

Lowery could even be in contention to start at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, which would ultimately be bad news for Owen Moxon in midfield.

Moxon has a pass-accuracy rate of 76 per cent for Portsmouth, which compares to 86.5 per cent for Lowery – the highest return of any Portsmouth player [WhoScored].

Indeed, Lowery also ranks very highly in terms of key passes per game with 1.4, which is bettered only by Marlon Pack (1.6).

There is otherwise very little between Lowery and Moxon, as they are level pegging in terms of dribbles per game (1.3) and blocks (0.3).

Having further options in a key area of the pitch is a major boost for Mousinho, and ensures Pompey are well set to seal their return to the Championship this weekend.

And with one eye already on next season, Lowery will be looking to lay down a marker now that he is back to fitness.
