View: Jeff Stelling spot on with ‘bizarre’ Connor Ogilvie stat that makes him undroppable for Portsmouth
Jeff Stelling says Connor Ogilvie must now be the first name on John Mousinho’s team sheet at Portsmouth due to a “bizarre statistic”.
Legendary broadcaster Stelling shared on talkSPORT Breakfast [15 April, 07:50] that Ogilvie has not lost a game for Pompey in over 400 days.
The 28-year-old has played 22 League One games this season – starting all but one of those – and has won 13 of them, drawing the other nine.
Stelling said: “Here’s a bizarre statistic that I read… It’s been over 400 days since [Ogilvie] last played in a losing Portsmouth team – 400 days!
“He’s played 20-odd games this season, but 400 days. If you’re a manager, he’s the first name on the team sheet.”

Beyond this quirky statistic, Ogilvie has showed he is deserving of a new deal at Fratton Park when his current one expires in the summer.
The four aerial duels he won in the game with Bolton Wanderers at the weekend was bettered only by Conor Shaughnessy (five) [WhoScored].
Interestingly, Ogilvie was also one of only four Pompey players – and the only defender – to register a key pass in the 1-1 draw.
While Ogilvie’s passing accuracy was rather poor – he completed just 16 out of 27 passes – he impressed in other areas.
The former England age-grade international’s 80-per-cent success rate from aerial duels was unmatched and he registered four clearances [Sofascore].
Having recently confirmed he wants to stay at Portsmouth beyond this season, there is every chance Pompey’s lucky omen will get his wish.
