Abu Kamara urged to sign for Portsmouth by Paddy Lane and Colby Bishop amid title celebrations

Abu Kamara has been told to sign permanently for Portsmouth by a host of his teammates after Tuesday night’s title-clinching victory over Barnsley.

Pompey came from behind at Fratton Park to win 3-2 over the Tykes and, in turn, win the League One title and promotion to the Championship.

Kamara, 20, has spent the season on loan at Portsmouth from Norwich and it’s clear that a bunch of his teammates at Fratton Park are desperate for him to stay on a permanent basis.

Colby Bishop told Kamara on Instagram to “sign the ting”, while Paddy Lane said “sign the contract”.

Chris Saydee said “sign him up” in the comments on Kamara’s latest Instagram post and Owen Moxon said: “My goat (greatest of all time), right there.”

Will Portsmouth sign Abu Kamara permanently from Norwich?

As it stands, Kamara will return to Carrow Road in the coming weeks because there’s no option-to-buy clause in his loan deal at Portsmouth.

The London-born attacker has another year remaining on his contract at Norwich, as it stands. However, the Championship play-off hopefuls have the option to extend that by another year.

If you’re Norwich, you wouldn’t want to lose Kamara, would you?

It’s a truth that hurts but the Canaries are likely to demand a lot of money for the 20-year-old this summer because they are not in a position where they need to sell him and they know that he’s a good young English attacker who’s done extremely well in League One.

Norwich are outside bets in the Championship’s promotion race so there’s a good chance they will be in the second-tier again next term and will want to give players like Kamara a shot.

However, Portsmouth’s stance is clear.

The players want him, the fans definitely want him and John Mousinho will surely want to keep him as well.

Can the board give Pompey what they want?

We hope so.
