View: Emma Jones award double fully justified after Portsmouth Women title heroics
Emma Jones was the big winner at the Portsmouth end-of-season awards night as she won two top individual accolades.
Marlon Pack and Conor Shaughnessy won the Men’s Player of the Season and Men’s Players’ Player of the Season awards respectively.
It was a clean sweep for Jones in the women’s side of things, as she claimed the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the season crowns.
That means not only was she considered the best player among supporters, but also among her own peers as well.
And there is no arguing against that after what has been a memorable campaign both for Jones and the Portsmouth Women team as a whole.
Portsmouth win FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division
Jay Sadler’s side were crowned champions of the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division last weekend.
That came after closest challengers Hashtag United lost 2-0 to Ipswich, meaning Pompey mathematically could no longer be caught.
Portsmouth Women have won 18 of their 20 league games and also made it to a domestic cup semi-final.
Jones has 16 league goals to her name across the campaign, with one game to go, which is the joint-sixth highest in the division.
The Wales international endured an injury-plagued campaign in 2022-23, but she has certainly put that behind her since then.
And on the basis of what we have seen this campaign, both Jones and Portsmouth will surely continue to go from strength to strength.
