Portsmouth want to sign Celtic sensation Bosun Lawal in summer loan deal – report
Portsmouth are among a number of clubs who are keen on signing Celtic midfielder Bosun Lawal in the summer, according to The Scottish Sun.
The newspaper reported on Saturday (27 April) that QPR and Derby – who have joined Pompey in winning promotion to the Championship – are also interested in the 20-year-old.
Lawal has spent this season on loan at Fleetwood, impressing in League One while playing in a multitude of positions.
The Dublin-born ace has turned out in the centre of the midfield, at centre-back and in both full-back positions for the Lancashire side but it is understood that he will return to Celtic Park in the summer ahead of what looks like another loan move away from Glasgow.
What’s the latest Portsmouth transfer news?
There hasn’t been too much transfer news about Portsmouth since they sealed the League One title and their spot in the 2024/25 Championship.
However, there is bound to be a lot of work going on behind the scenes at Fratton Park ahead of the club’s first second-tier campaign in over a decade.
John Mousinho has done a wonderful job at Pompey and we’re sure that he will continue to do so in the Championship.
However, he needs to equip himself with a squad capable of staying in the division next term and he’ll only do that by using the transfer market cleverly.

Firstly, he needs to plug gaps that will be left by outgoing loanees, such as Abu Kamara.
Portsmouth unfortunately have next to no chance of signing Kamara on a permanent basis but it would be great to see if they can strike another loan deal with Norwich, especially if they win promotion to the Premier League.
Lawal would be a handy addition because he can play in multiple positions, he’s come through at a good academy at Celtic and he’s done well in League One.
Would the Championship be a premature big step, however? That would remain to be seen.
In other Portsmouth news, Tony Pulis has shared public advice to Mousinho.
