View: Will Norris receives deserved EFL recognition after what he did for in Portsmouth win v Lincoln City

Will Norris has rightly been named in the League One Team of the Week after his superb display for Portsmouth in the win at Lincoln City.

The Pompey number one saved 100 per cent of the two shots on target Lincoln had, including Daniel Mandroiu’s penalty early in the second half.

That set John Mousinho’s men on their way to a 2-0 final-day win that put the cherry on top of the icing on the cake on this memorable season.

The EFL confirmed on Monday (29 April), as per Portsmouth’s official website, that Norris was part of the Team of the Week.

Norris, named captain in the absence of Marlon Pack, completed just 69 per cent of his passes [Sofascore], but that is understandable.

The 30-year-old also made three clearances, which was bettered by only Ryley Towler (four) and Conor Shaughnessy on the day.

Over the duration of the season, Norris has a 73 per cent save percentage [FBref], having made 106 saves from the 145 on-target efforts faced.

That is ‘only’ the fourth best return in League One, with Lincoln’s Lukas Jensen leading the way (78 per cent), but Norris’ importance cannot be understated.

Indeed, no Pompey player featured in more minutes this season (4,140) than Norris, followed by Shaughnessy (4,050) and Colby Bishop (3,551) [WhoScored].

This was another deserved accolade for the Portsmouth stopper, who can hopefully maintain his form back in the Championship.
