Manchester City gem Alex Robertson touted as most likely Portsmouth loanee to return next season
Manchester City midfielder Alex Robertson is the most likely loanee to return to Portsmouth next season, according to BBC Radio Solent’s Andy Moon.
Pompey had several loan players in the squad that earned promotion back to the Championship last season with Robertson impressing the Fratton Park faithful during his 27 appearances.
Asked by a Pompey fan which of their League One-winning loan players was most likely to come back to the South Coast, Moon said: “Robertson, I would say.”
Explaining situations regarding the other loanees, he added: “That’s based on my explanation for the others: Abu Kamara, I think will play at Norwich next season – I don’t think they’ll be interested in loaning him out.
“[Myles] Peart-Harris is clearly talented and they still rate him, but he’s been a bit frustrating at times.
“[Tino] Anjorin, we’ll have to wait and see on, with Chelsea.”
Would Alex Robertson be a Championship success for Portsmouth?
I have spent the past year in Australia and spoken to Portsmouth fans every day and it is fair to say Robertson is highly rated in all corners.
The 21-year-old has been playing his football in England for nine years – three as a pro – and his time at Pompey was his first senior experience in this country.

He has taken to it like a duck to water, showing a natural knowhow in the middle of the park, and just bringing a calmness and a maturity to the team that excels on his tender years.
Robertson has enjoyed a productive year, even despite injury, in making his senior Socceroos debut alongside a League One winners’ medal, for which he played a significant part.
He possesses all the attributes to be a Championship player at least. I certainly believe John Mousinho and his staff will ask the question of Man City – you can tell he’s had that upbringing where comfort in possession is key.
