Portsmouth share new fan opportunity after double title triumph
There’s more good news for Portsmouth supporters this week, as the club have announced a photo opportunity with the club’s silverware this weekend.
Pompey fans can get their hands on both their Men’s and Women’s league trophies on Sunday, the club’s official site has confirmed.
The Blues’ Women bring the curtain down on a season where they matched their male counterparts as they take on London Bees at Westleigh Park (KO 2pm).
The trophies will be available for pictures from 12:30pm.
Jay Sadler’s side first secured the league title before their successful promotion application.
Club CEO Andrew Cullen told the official site: “I’m absolutely delighted the application was a success.
“Jay, his team and the staff have had a fantastic season, and are now rewarded not only with a title win, but the promotion to the Championship to go with it.”
Portsmouth Women deserve Championship
Amid the success of John Mousinho’s Men’s team, it is important not to let the Women’s season get overshadowed.
Sadler’s girls have lost just once in the league all season, now unbeaten in 18.
The work behind the scenes to secure promotion has made it all the more sweet, following the immense effort the team and management have contributed on the pitch.
Pompey also reached the semi-finals of the National League Cup, narrowly beaten by Newcastle United.
It’s excellent that the girls can have their day on Sunday, with tickets available from just £6 for adult season ticket holders.
The odds are stacked in Pompey’s favour for the contest. London Bees have already been relegated from the National League with just three points all season.
The incentive of the trophy presentation for fans comes with free face painting and family activities, reinforcing the family atmosphere at Pompey as a whole.
