Portsmouth want to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Jadan Raymond after promotion – report
Portsmouth are hoping to sign Crystal Palace Under-21s midfielder Jadan Raymond in the summer transfer window, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist reported on 5 May that Pompey are hoping to get a deal wrapped up quickly for the 20-year-old at Fratton Park.
There is confidence that Palace will allow the youngster to move on a loan deal to gain experience, with little resistance expected from the Eagles.
Portsmouth already looking to shape up for the Championship
Portsmouth are moving quickly to bolster their squad after claiming the League One title and sealing a long-awaited return to the Championship.
Raymond is an exciting young talent and moving for young players in his position – clearly in possession of an abundance of ability but faced with a scarcity of first-team opportunities at Premier League clubs – is an astute transfer strategy as the club looks to stabilise upon their return to the second tier.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder – who turns 21 in October – is of an age where he will be keen to gain some much-needed senior experience, having spent the entirety of his career so far in Palace’s youth ranks.
He has managed two goals and two assists in 719 Premier League 2 minutes this season and has been named on the bench for the Palace first team on two occasions – the 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest last October and the 1-1 stalemate with Everton in February – but has yet to make his senior Eagles debut.

A potential transfer to Portsmouth suits all parties, then – Raymond will have the opportunity to improve in a competitive environment, Palace’s asset will be developed and Portsmouth gain a player who they will hope can make an impact next season.
