Portsmouth release new footage of Pompey Women title celebrations
Portsmouth have released an emotional video detailing an inside look at Pompey Women’s title-winning season in the National League.
Published by the official Portsmouth website [14 May], the video of over 15 minutes reviews the glorious moment the Pompey team lifted the trophy, matching the accomplishment of the men’s team as both sides of the club play Championship football in their respective league campaigns next season.
Jay Sadler’s side won 20 of their 22 league games, losing just one as the Blues stormed to the title – reflecting last summer’s injection of investment into the women’s side of the club which is now reaping the rewards for the Tornante Company.
The trophy was presented following a 10-1 thrashing of London Bees in Portsmouth’s final fixture at Westleigh Park, and the women were able to celebrate in tandem with John Mousinho’s men’s team during the Southsea Common supporters’ parade on 28 April.
An exciting season awaits Portsmouth Women
For the first time, Portsmouth Women will be competing in the FA Women’s Championship next term.
As champions of the National League’s southern division, Pompey will enter the second tier alongside northern champions Newcastle United, who are on a mission for WSL football following heavy investment from the club’s board.
Of course, the aim for Sadler’s side first and foremost is survival, but there is no reason why Pompey can’t establish themselves in the division at the rate they are performing.

The club have done an excellent job in producing the video to celebrate the women’s achievements, and has provided an excellent insight to supporters who have followed the team at Westleigh Park and away from home this season.
Both senior sides of the club are heading in the right direction – a feeling Portsmouth fans had forgotten for a long time.
In other Portsmouth news, a return for Tino Anjorin must be ruled out amid an issue.
