Portsmouth season lauded once again as Mousinho picks up LMA Manager award
Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has been recognised once again for a tremendous title-winning season in League One, being named the division’s Manager of the Year at the LMA Awards.
According to the Portsmouth FC official website, the head coach was presented with the award which doubles up with his EFL accolade of the same title.
Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and Stockport County’s Dave Challinor also collected awards for their respective divisions.
Mousinho was also shortlisted for the overall Manager of the Year prize, which was won by Ipswich’s McKenna.
The John Mousinho effect at Portsmouth
Proving all the doubters wrong in his first full season in management, Mousinho’s stock has abundantly risen, with these awards recognising his achievements.
With clubs now turning heads slightly towards the former Oxford United man, pundits are sure that Mousinho will be continuing to lead the Pompey charge come the start of 2024-25.

The 38-year-old’s recent playing career may also come as an advantage in terms of recruitment contacts with players who are still in the prime of their careers – such as Oxford’s recent Wembley hero Josh Murphy, who has been touted as a possible target at Fratton Park.
The club will be keen to tie their gaffer down to a longer-term and improved contract as talks continue into next season, whilst Mousinho himself focuses alongside the board on assembling a capable squad for the Championship next campaign.
