BBC broadcaster amazed by footage of former Portsmouth loanee Abu Kamara

BBC broadcaster Andy Moon has hailed Abu Kamara after the former Portsmouth loanee shared a clip on his Instagram story.

Kamara uploaded a video to his story [12 June] of himself winning a penalty in the England Elite League Squad’s 2-2 draw with Republic of Ireland in Zagreb on Tuesday.

Moon posted on X [12 June] in awe of the skill from the young winger in drawing the foul: “Sensational video from Abu Kamara’s Instagram from playing for England.

“Three defenders gang up to stop him… spoiler alert, they can’t.”

Norwich City have a decision to make this summer on how heavily Kamara will feature in their plans, and Pompey will be monitoring closely.

Portsmouth still hold out hope for Abu Kamara return

Portsmouth fans, players and management alike all want to see Abu Kamara walk back through the door at Fratton Park – that’s a given.

But Norwich’s failure to earn promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs ensures the Canaries will be battling it out with John Mousinho’s men next season in the Championship, and to loan Kamara back to the South Coast may not be the wisest move on their part.

The 20-year-old took to the bustling nature of League One like a duck to water in 2023-24, showing his robustness and end product with excellent consistency.

Eight goals and 10 assists later, Kamara is an established England youth international these days and has shown his capability to step up to Championship level – and unless an almighty fee arrives on the table at Carrow Road, the chances appear very remote for Portsmouth to retain the player.
