Portsmouth Premier League star Brian Priske named as Arne Slot successor at Feyenoord
Dutch giants Feyenoord have named former Portsmouth defender Brian Priske as the club’s successor to Arne Slot as head coach.
As confirmed by the club’s official website [12 June], Priske will begin duties with the Eredivisie runners-up on 1 July following Slot’s arrival at Liverpool, replacing Jurgen Klopp.
The 47-year-old Dane will take charge of the club in the Champions League, having been with Sparta Prague and FC Midtjylland previously.
Priske played 30 times in the Premier League for Portsmouth during the 2005-06 season, just missing out by a few months on a South Coast derby following Southampton’s relegation in 2005.

Pompey fans will remember Priske fairly well, given he was a fully fledged Danish international who was part of the ‘great escape’ of 2006 under Harry Redknapp.
Redknapp initially did not see the defender as a key part of his plans, with most of his game time coming under Alain Perrin before he was restored to the defence for the upturn in form leading towards the run-in.
Priske has taken on an excellent coaching career since, as part of an increasing number of young coaches who have impressed.
Indeed, John Mousinho could well be one of the next on the conveyor belt, though he is still nine years Priske’s junior.
Some in Portsmouth will be taking an added look at how Feyenoord fare in both the Eredivisie and Champions League next season under their former Premier League star.
