David Norris delighted with Connor Ogilvie news as Portsmouth release statement

David Norris is delighted that Connor Ogilvie has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal at Portsmouth.

The club confirmed in a statement on their official website on 19 June that the defender will stay on at Fratton Park until 2026.

Ogilvie’s previous deal expired at the end of last season, but he was offered fresh terms after helping the club to Championship promotion.

Speaking to Pompey News, former midfielder Norris said: “I like him. That was a good one to get over the line. I feel like he was a bit of an unsung hero at times for Portsmouth.

“I don’t see that being any different with the step up now. He’s solid and rarely has an off-day, and I’ve never really seen him have a bad game.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how he copes in the Championship, and I do expect him to make the step up and take to it like a duck to water.”

Connor Ogilvie can play big part for Portsmouth in Championship

Ogilvie more than played his part last season as he started 23 League One games and will likely play a key part in 2024-25.

As a player capable of playing in multiple defensive position, his versatility will no doubt come in handy during a gruelling campaign.

While the Tottenham youth product may never have tested himself at this level, everything we have seen so far indicates he will be able to make the step up.

In a summer in which plenty of players have already moved on, tying Ogilvie down to a new contract is a massive positive for everyone connected to the club.

In other Portsmouth news, Norris has shared his verdict on what he expects from Pompey in their first season back in the Championship.
