Doctor lauds Portsmouth star Jordan Williams after 2023/24 fitness assessment

New Portsmouth signing Jordan Williams deserves credit for his impeccable fitness in the 2023/24 season, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the 24-year-old not missing a single league game proves he’s ready for the Championship in the coming weeks.

This comes after Pompey secured promotion to the second tier after an impressive season and secured the services of the centre-back who played for Barnsley.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Portsmouth News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“Williams featured in every league game last season and that’s absolutely a testament to his habits and commitment to his health.

“Along with the club, he deserves credit for keeping himself fit throughout the campaign.

“He even played the full 90 minutes in all but one game, which goes to show the sort of professional he is.

“Next season, playing at a higher level would expose him to new injury risks but I do not see that impacting him too much should he continue with his routines.”

Portsmouth have made a key acquisition in Jordan Williams

Williams is a crucial signing for Portsmouth due to his experience, leadership and versatility.

He played over 200 matches for Barnsley, including two seasons in the Championship and captained the side to the League One play-offs.

His arrival provides Pompey with a reliable and experienced right-back option, filling the gap left by Joe Rafferty’s departure.

His signing is a statement of intent from Pompey as they prepare for life back in the Championship after a 12-year absence.
