Former Portsmouth hero captains local non-league side aged 36 after prolific two years
Former Portsmouth forward Brett Pitman has begun pre-season by captaining new club Baffins Milton Rovers at the age of 36.
The ex-Pompey striker has signed for the club in the heart of the city following two prolific seasons with AFC Portchester and Shaftesbury.
The Wessex League Premier Division side, managed by Danny Thompson, posted on their X account [17 July] to show off their new skipper, who has returned to settle on the South Coast even after departing Fratton Park in 2020.
Portsmouth hero Pitman the hitman in non-league
Pitman is fondly remembered by Portsmouth fans for his impact while at the club for three years, winning the EFL Trophy at Wembley in 2019.
This feeling will be even more so these days, having now joined a club in the centre of the island city, playing alongside and against ardent Pompey fans who have watched him on the terraces at Fratton Park.
Fellow former Blues man David Norris, though seven years older than Pitman, also ventured into the semi-pro game to extend his career and only retired last summer with Lancaster City aged 43, scoring a hat-trick in his final career game.

Norris recently credited Pitman for his non-league journey and detailed the vast differences but also similarities between the EFL and the lower divisions in the pyramid.
And Pitman has been no stranger to hat-tricks in the past two years himself, scoring a whopping 100 goals since leaving Bristol Rovers in 2022.
