Portsmouth Women confirm backroom staff as full-time transition is complete
Portsmouth have confirmed multiple transitions to professional staff in the women’s team setup, with several full-time appointments revealed.
Published on the club’s official website on Monday [12 August], it has been confirmed that head coach Jay Sadler’s assistant Kim Stenning has moved into a full-time role.
Goalkeeping coach Lee Callender will take on the role of set-piece coach simultaneously in a professional capacity, whilst Ollie Reeves (physical performance coach), Rosie Castle and James Webb (physio and medical), and Grace Laidlaw (recruitment and performance analyst) complete the backroom team.
Portsmouth Women make full-time appointments
Portsmouth assured those inside and outside the club that with the step up to a professional operation being made, backroom positions would follow suit.
These upgrades have now been made with immediate effect as the full-time transition of Pompey Women hits completion – the Women’s Championship campaign kicks off for the club on 8 September at The Valley against Charlton Athletic.
The majority of last season’s triumphant National League southern division-winning squad have signed full-time deals after a summer of arranging a new step from their previous day jobs, with several signings recruited to supplement the squad.
Sadler’s team are well underway in a hectic pre-season schedule against some intriguing opponents, the last contest a 5-1 win over Watford at Westleigh Park at the weekend.
The club are looking to establish themselves as a second tier side in both the men’s and women’s game, with a hugely exciting challenge to work towards.
