Portsmouth agree deal for Liverpool gem Harvey Blair – Dharmesh Sheth
Portsmouth have agreed a deal with Liverpool to sign young forward Harvey Blair on a permanent deal, according to Dharmesh Sheth and Vinny O’Connor.
The Sky Sports duo reported [21 August] that terms had been arranged between Pompey and the Reds to bring Blair from Anfield to Fratton Park on a long-term basis.
The 20-year-old has made one senior appearance for the club, with 55 minutes as a teenager in the Carabao Cup against Preston North End, back in 2021.
Portsmouth seek Harvey Blair to bolster front line
Portsmouth fans are in the main excited by the prospect of signing Blair, although some are understandably sceptical of his lack of senior experience being thrust into the Championship.
Blair has come through the ranks at Liverpool and has not yet had so much as a loan into the EFL or any men’s football, so signing him is a risk, but John Mousinho will look to nurture him in the right environment – as is also likely to be the case with any further Premier League youngsters.
We may not see too much of the youngster straight away, but he will earn plenty of opportunities for minutes and his versatility across the front line can make him a viable squad option.

Plenty of clubs held an interest in Blair as Liverpool looked to trim down their academy graduates around the fringes of the first team, as he travelled on the club’s pre-season tour.
Now it looks as if the foreseeable future for the Yorkshire-born forward will be in blue and in front of the lively Fratton Park crowd.
