Portsmouth in talks to seal Paul Dummett transfer after Newcastle development – report

Portsmouth are in talks with Paul Dummett after he was released from Newcastle, according to Sami Mokbel.

The Daily Mail journalist has reported the news via X (28 August) as Portsmouth look for further reinforcement to bolster their Championship survival hopes.

The defender is a free agent so no fees would have to be paid.

Portsmouth to sign Paul Dummett?

Portsmouth have finally found themselves back in England’s second tier after far too long of a wait.

The club won League One last season and have so far managed to hold their own in the Championship.

John Mousinho’s men are currently residing in thirteenth place on a total of three points. Although this points total might not seem too exciting, it puts them level with their fellow promoted teams Oxford City and Derby County.

The summer transfer window has been fairly strong for Pompey already with the likes of Harvey Blair [Dharmesh Sheth, 22 August] and ex-Borussia Dortmund ace Abdoulaye Kamara [Portsmouthfc.co.uk, 20 August] arriving at the club.

While some of these names might not be all that recognisable, should Dummett be added to the squad then their defensive strength will no doubt improve tenfold.

Mousinho’s men are on course for a stellar return to the Championship and could turn a few heads come the end of the season.
