Portsmouth close in on six-figure Ibane Bowat transfer as sell-on clause emerges – report
Ibane Bowat is set for a move to Portsmouth in a £500,000 transfer from Fulham with a healthy sell-on clause included, according to The Sun.
The British news outlet reported on its live transfer blog (30 August, 12:05) that Scottish youth international Bowat is “bound for” a move to Fratton Park, having spent the last two seasons out on loan from Fulham.
Fulham, however, have reportedly insisted on inserting a 50 per cent sell-on clause into the 21-year-old’s Pompey contract, meaning that they could make much more than £500,000 if Bowat makes a seven-figure move elsewhere in the coming years.
Ibane Bowat transfer set to complete bumper Portsmouth window
Pompey’s return to England’s second tier for the first time in over a decade has seen them make a plethora of signings in preparation for a long Championship season, with Bowat likely to be the last.
Bowat will be the 14th new face through the Fratton Park doors as John Mousinho bolsters his first-team options, and brings experience of playing in various European leagues at this stage of his career.

The 21-year-old has spent time in the Dutch second tier with Den Bosch and in the Austrian Bundesliga at TSB Hartberg last season, both of which were loan moves from parent club Fulham.
Set to leave Craven Cottage without making his senior debut for the West London side, Bowat’s move south to Mousinho’s Portsmouth represents a chance to make his breakthrough in English football.
Only the second central defensive signing this summer, after Jordan Williams from Barnsley, Bowat will be hoping to take his opportunity – when it comes – with both hands at Fratton Park.
In other Portsmouth news, another young defender on Pompey’s books is set to make a move down the leagues on a free transfer.
