View: Mousinho surely sweating over fitness of 60% Portsmouth ace after loss v Burnley
John Mousinho and Portsmouth fans will be waiting anxiously for an injury update on Callum Lang.
Pompey suffered their most agonising defeat of the EFL Championship season on Saturday (21 September).
After taking the lead at Turf Moor, Burnley scored twice – including a stoppage-time winner – to turn the game around and win 2-1.
It leaves Mousinho’s side winless after their first six Championship games of the season. Having drawn their first three matches upon their return to England’s second tier, Mousinho’s side have now lost their last three on the bounce.
And things don’t get any easier, with Sheffield United set to visit Fratton Park next Saturday (28 September).
Therefore, Mousinho will be nervously awaiting an update on top scorer Lang, who got Portsmouth’s goal against Burnley before being forced off with an injury.
Following the defeat to the Clarets, the Portsmouth boss provided an update to BBC Radio Solent (via The News, 22 September), saying, “I think Callum felt his groin, but it shouldn’t be too bad.”
And Mousinho will be desperate to have the 26-year-old back for the visit of the Blades.
Callum Lang to miss Portsmouth v Sheffield United?
Pompey have dealt with several injury issues at Fratton Park this season. Therefore, they will be desperate for Lang to make a speedy recovery.
The forward is Portsmouth’s top scorer this season, having found the back of the net three times in the Championship, while also providing one assist.
He was on target against Scott Parker’s side at the weekend. However, he was relatively quiet elsewhere.
As per Sofascore, he only completed 60 per cent of his passes, while managing just 23 touches of the ball.
In addition, he was successful with just one of his three dribble attempts while he won just 50 per cent of his ground duels and gave possession away seven times.
However, he did chip in defensively, making two clearances, one interception and one tackle, while winning two fouls for his side.

Considering Portsmouth’s struggles in front of goal this season – with Mousinho’s side having found the back of the net just four times in their past five league matches – they will need their main goal threat against Sheffield United.
As a result, everybody at Fratton Park will be waiting anxiously for a positive update in the coming days.
