Andy Cullen reveals how much Portsmouth now earn from away fans per game at Fratton Park

Andy Cullen has revealed Portsmouth are taking in an average of £10,000 per home fixture from kiosk sales to away supporters.

The club this week published the minutes of the latest meeting of the Tony Goodall Fans’ Conference [8 October, Portsmouth FC official website], whereby senior club figures consulted with various supporters’ groups.

The Pompey CEO announced the encouraging news that earnings from the Milton End food and drink bays – following the maintenance work at Fratton Park over the summer – have soared to average the five-figure sum from a previously paltry £900.

Cullen explained that while before the club had just one kiosk with two tills to serve away supporters in the Milton End, there are now three kiosks with 10 tills. This hugely assists the flow of fans across a wider-built concourse, replicating that of the home fans’ Fratton End.

To rocket from £900 to approximately £10,000 over the course of merely months is testament to the hard work and investment from the club into their stadium following promotion.

With 23 home games in the Championship campaign alone, that is around £23,000 the club are bringing in, compared to under £21,000 previously – a mammoth increase.

It demonstrates another aspect of gradually reaping back the cash injection which was ploughed into Portsmouth by the Tornante Company to help move with the times.

It is refreshing to hear from Cullen how the infrastructure is benefitting so many, as supporters lay across their current concerns away from the pitch – the crowd management from Fratton station to the ground, for instance, was a heavily discussed topic.

Another key consideration in the Milton End was the segregation between home and away fans. A disagreement appears to exist between the home fans housed in the stand who want paramount safety, and those who believe that while the capacity was increased over the summer, seats are going to waste with 2,000 fans now on a season ticket waiting list.

Cullen sided with the supporters whose season tickets are based in that stand, to ensure their duty of care towards all fans in attendance.
